ABOUT

“Children of Eden” is a captivating musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John Caird, inspired by the book of Genesis and a concept by Charles Lisanby. The story is told across two acts, each focusing on a pivotal biblical family saga—Adam and Eve, and Noah and the Flood. In the first act, we meet Adam and Eve in the newly created paradise of Eden, exploring themes of innocence, disobedience, and the resulting expulsion due to their defiance of God, referred to as Father. The act further delves into the complexities of Cain and Abel’s relationship, showcasing the consequences of jealousy and the profound impact of parental favoritism and expectations.

In the second act, the musical shifts to the story of Noah and the great flood, exploring the themes of second chances and redemption. Noah grapples with the monumental task of building the ark at God’s command and the challenges of uniting his family amidst impending doom. As the flood waters rise, the characters confront their faith in Father’s plan and struggle with forgiveness, love, and responsibility towards each other and their future generations. Throughout both acts, “Children of Eden” uses these timeless stories to reflect on universal human experiences, emphasizing the enduring themes of family and the perpetual quest for understanding between creation and creator.
