ABOUT
“Copacabana,” the vivacious musical inspired by Barry Manilow’s hit song, tells the story of Stephen, an aspiring songwriter whose imagination transports him to the colorful world of the 1940s Copacabana Nightclub. As he writes, Stephen’s own life blends with his creation; he becomes Tony, a young bartender and composer at the Copa, where music and passion are always in fashion. Tony falls deeply in love with Lola, an aspiring singer who dreams of stardom. Their budding romance is the heart of Tony’s musical creation, unfolding amidst the glitz and glamour of the iconic club.
However, their love story faces challenges when Rico, a suave and powerful club owner from Havana, becomes enamored with Lola and decides to take her to his own club in Cuba. Lola finds herself caught in a dangerous love triangle, torn between her affection for Tony and the opportunities that Rico offers. As Stephen continues to write, he realizes that the choices his characters make mirror challenges in his own life, leading him to a deeper understanding of love, ambition, and the price of dreams. The musical crescendos to an exhilarating finale that tests the power of love and art to overcome all obstacles.
