Flashdance is now available for our Show|Ready rehearsal software and Stage|Tracks performance tracks! Based on the 1983 Paramount Pictures film, this is an inspiring musical about the power of holding onto your dreams against all odds.
Alex Owens lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. By day, she works as a welder in a steel mill. By night, she’s a dancer at a small club in town called Harry’s Bar. She longs to become a professional dancer. Her friend Gloria encourages her to audition for the renowned Shipley Academy and she begins to train. Without formal training, however, Alex worries that she doesn’t stand a chance.
Unexpectedly, Alex falls in love with Nick, her boss’s son. When their relationship begins to complicate her ambitions, she harnesses it to drive her dream. No matter what, Alex is determined to prove that she’s a maniac on the floor.
The show was written by Tom Hedley, with music and lyrics by Robbie Roth and Robert Cary. The iconic score features best-selling hits like “Maniac,” “Manhunt,” “Gloria,” “I Love Rock & Roll” and the sensational title track “Flashdance…What a Feeling.”
