Head Over Heels is a jukebox musical that blends the music of the iconic ’80s band The Go-Go’s with a whimsical story inspired by Sir Philip Sidney’s The Arcadia. Set in a fictional kingdom called Arcadia, the plot follows a royal family on a journey to save their realm from losing its “beat,” or essential rhythm of life. Along the way, they encounter a mischievous oracle, mistaken identities, gender-bending disguises, and forbidden love, all while challenging traditional ideas about gender, identity, and love. The energetic, pop-driven score features hits like “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” and “Heaven Is a Place on Earth.”
Throughout its playful and vibrant journey, Head Over Heels ultimately celebrates self-discovery, acceptance, and the power of embracing change. Characters learn to defy societal expectations and follow their hearts, culminating in a joyous, inclusive ending. The musical’s clever fusion of Elizabethan language with ’80s pop songs creates a unique and infectious theatrical experience, making it both a heartfelt and hilarious exploration of love and identity.
