The sweetener is intended for groups that may not have enough ensemble microphones, have a smaller cast, or just want to provide a little extra support to their ensemble.
ABOUT
The Prom: School Edition is a musical adaptation specifically tailored for student performers, featuring a slightly modified version of the Broadway hit The Prom. The show tells the story of a group of self-obsessed Broadway stars who travel to a small conservative town to support a lesbian student, Emma, after her high school cancels prom to prevent her from bringing her girlfriend. The School Edition retains the heart and humor of the original, but with adjustments to make it more accessible and appropriate for young audiences, ensuring its themes of acceptance, equality, and self-expression are highlighted in a way that resonates with high school students.
In this version, the music, dialogue, and some plot elements are slightly streamlined to make it easier for schools to produce. The School Edition still provides ample opportunities for students to showcase their talents in singing, dancing, and acting. Through its vibrant characters and emotionally impactful story, The Prom: School Edition allows student performers to explore important social issues while celebrating individuality, inclusion, and the transformative power of love and community.
