- A paid QLab 5 license is required for this title. While we do provide music tracks, they cannot be used independently, as playback relies on the stems (audio files) provided by MTI. Therefore, if you don’t have a paid QLab 5 license, this show won’t work for you.
- MTI provides the audio stems needed for your show. You will need to download the files to your computer and link them in QLab. ROCS does not distribute these audio stems, so you will need to reach out to MTI for access.
- This show uses the Stage|Tracks and QLab integration. The tracks will live in Stage|Tracks, and the audio stems will need to be uploaded to the pre-built QLab workspace.
- QLab will trigger most stems automatically. However, two stems require additional setup. You will need to add a few OSC commands to Stage|Tracks and link them to the corresponding cues in QLab 5.
ABOUT
Alice by Heart is a musical written by Steven Sater and Jessie Nelson, with music by Duncan Sheik. Set in London during the Blitz of World War II, the story follows a teenage girl named Alice Spencer and her best friend, Alfred, as they seek shelter in an underground tube station during a bombing. Alfred is seriously ill, and as the two face the fear and uncertainty of their situation, Alice turns to her favorite book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, to escape the frightening reality around them. She begins imagining a world inspired by the story, where she and the other people in the station take on the roles of characters from Wonderland.
As the musical unfolds, Alice’s journey through this imaginary world helps her cope with grief, love, growing up, and the challenges of letting go. Through music, fantasy, and familiar characters from Alice in Wonderland, she learns that life does not always go as planned and that growing up sometimes means accepting painful changes.AlicebyHeart explores the power of imagination and storytelling as ways to find hope during difficult times. Ultimately, it is a heartfelt story about friendship, first love, loss, and finding the courage to move forward even when the future is uncertain.
