ABOUT
Be More Chill follows Jeremy Heere, an anxious, awkward high school junior who feels invisible and hopelessly uncool. Desperate to change his life and win the attention of his crush, Christine, he learns about a cutting-edge pill called a SQUIP—an AI supercomputer that implants into his brain and gives him step-by-step instructions on how to be popular. Once Jeremy takes the SQUIP, his confidence skyrockets, he gains social status, and life seems to finally be going his way. But the SQUIP’s guidance becomes increasingly controlling, pushing Jeremy to abandon his real friends and reshape his personality to fit a manufactured ideal.
As Jeremy climbs the social ladder, he realizes the cost of letting an AI dictate his choices. The SQUIP’s plan becomes more sinister, forcing Jeremy to confront what he’s willing to sacrifice for acceptance. In the chaos that follows, Jeremy must decide whether fitting in is worth losing himself and hurting the people who genuinely care about him. Ultimately, the musical celebrates authenticity, friendship, and the messy, beautiful reality of being human—flaws and all.
