Cinderella (Broadway Version, Tour Orchestration)

ABOUT

Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Broadway Version, Tour Orchestration) is a fresh adaptation of the beloved fairy tale, featuring a revised book by Douglas Carter Beane. This version retains the classic songs by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, such as “In My Own Little Corner” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” while introducing new characters and plot twists. Cinderella, known as Ella, is a kind but strong-willed young woman who dreams of a better life beyond her stepmother’s cruelty. With the help of her fairy godmother, Marie, she transforms for the royal ball, but this story goes beyond just romance. It incorporates themes of social justice, as Ella inspires Prince Topher to become a more just ruler, while also advocating for kindness and fairness in the kingdom.

The Tour Orchestration of the Broadway version is specifically arranged for a more compact ensemble while maintaining the lush, sweeping sound of the original production. It includes adjustments for touring musicians, ensuring that the orchestrations still capture the grandeur of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic melodies. The production showcases dazzling transformations, elaborate ballroom sequences, and comedic elements, making it both visually and musically enchanting. With its blend of traditional fairy-tale charm and contemporary wit, this version of Cinderella breathes new life into a timeless story, offering both nostalgia and fresh surprises for audiences of all ages.
