From the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee comes a hot new Broadway musical! Inspired by actual events, MEMPHIS follows Huey Calhoun, an aspiring radio DJ. Huey, a white man, likes to hang out in Delray’s, a popular black Rock n’ Roll bar in town. Initially skeptical of Huey’s intentions, the regulars warm up to him. He begins flirting with Felicia, Delray’s sister and a talented singer ready for her big break. As love struck as he is ambitious and illiterate, Huey promises to get her on the radio.
Come along on their incredible journey to the ends of the airwaves – filled with laughter, soaring emotion, and roof-raising rock ‘n’ roll. The winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, MEMPHIS features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE and ALL SHOOK UP) and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan. This is a show that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs, and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love.
