ABOUT
Nunsense is a hilarious musical comedy by Dan Goggin that centers around the Little Sisters of Hoboken, a quirky group of nuns staging a fundraiser to bury four of their fellow sisters who were accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia, Child of God. The show opens as the remaining five sisters take over a school auditorium to put on a variety show featuring song, dance, and comedic hijinks. Each nun has a distinct personality—like the feisty Sister Robert Anne, the innocent Sister Mary Leo who dreams of becoming a ballerina, and the forgetful Sister Mary Amnesia, who once lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head.
Blending traditional vaudeville with Broadway-style musical numbers, Nunsense delivers both heart and humor as the sisters compete for the audience’s attention and donations. The show thrives on its playful audience interaction, witty dialogue, and catchy songs like “Nunsense Is Habit-Forming.” Beneath the laughter, Nunsense also celebrates friendship, community, and faith in the face of adversity, making it a crowd-pleasing favorite for theatres of all sizes.
