School of Rock: Young Actors Edition

ABOUT

School of Rock: Young Actors Edition is a one-hour adaptation of the hit Broadway musical and 2003 film, created specifically for young performers. The story follows Dewey Finn, a struggling rock musician who poses as his friend Ned and takes a job as a substitute teacher at the prestigious Horace Green School. When Dewey discovers that his straight-laced students possess remarkable musical talent, he secretly transforms them into a rock band, assigning each child a role as musician, singer, manager, or road crew member. As the students gain confidence and discover their individual voices, they begin to challenge the pressures placed on them by parents, teachers, and academic expectations.

As the band prepares to compete in the Battle of the Bands, Dewey must keep his deception hidden from the school’s headmistress, Rosalie Mullins, and the students’ parents. Along the way, the children learn valuable lessons about teamwork, self-expression, and believing in themselves, while Dewey discovers a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility. Filled with high-energy rock music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a heartfelt message about music’s transformative power, the musical celebrates creativity, friendship, and the courage to follow your passion.
