ABOUT
Zombie Prom is a campy, high-energy Off-Broadway musical set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High School, located near a nuclear power plant. The story follows the straight-laced, good-girl Toffee and her rebellious boyfriend Jonny (with no “H”), who is expelled after their forbidden romance causes an uproar. Devastated, Jonny throws himself into the reactor—only to return from the dead as a zombie determined to reclaim his place at school and take Toffee to the prom. His undead presence sparks a media frenzy led by sensationalist reporter Eddie Flagrante, revealing secrets, stirring controversy, and pushing the boundaries of acceptance.
As the conflict between conformity and individuality unfolds, the musical embraces themes of young love, second chances, and standing up for what’s right—even if you’re radioactive. With a rocking score influenced by 1950s doo-wop and a tongue-in-cheek tone, Zombie Prom combines satire, romance, and the undead into a feel-good, over-the-top ride. The show’s quirky charm and clever humor make it a cult favorite, especially for teen and community theatre productions.
